Unity Music Ministry - Choir

“You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!” -Isaiah 55:12
(New Living Translation)

Unity Choir

The volunteer choir sings on the third Sundays of every month, except July and August. Its vocal repertoire features sacred, folk, and contemporary styles.  Rehearsals are held from 7:00 to 8:30pm, Tuesday nights.  New members are encouraged to join us.  No formal audition.

Unity Women’s Ensemble

This new volunteer ensemble rehearses as scheduled for seasonal services (summer months, Mother’s Day, Christmas, etc.). A formal audition is required.

Unity’s Music a la carte

This part of the music ministry consists of several smaller ensembles (trios, quartets, sextets).  The music is a bit more challenging and varied, and ensemble members are expected to learn their music independently before rehearsals.  We are also calling forth volunteers to establish an instrumental group to expand the music ministry offerings at Unity of Ann Arbor.

The music ministry at Unity of Ann Arbor is committed ultimately to God’s service. Its sole purpose is to lead and enhance the congregation’s worship and meditation through musical offerings with full-bodied expression.

Unity of Ann Arbor is pleased to welcome Emery Stephens, a doctoral voice student at the University of Michigan, to assist us in developing a dynamic and diverse music ministry program. In October 2003, he assembled a 25-plus-member choir to begin their residency on the third Sunday of each month. Thank you God!

The music ministry team includes Emery Stephens, choir director, and Mary Beam, pianist, under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Linda Dominik. We support and nurture the God-given talents and abilities of those individuals and groups who contribute to the music ministry.

Historically, music has provided a means of expressing “Spirit”. Our aim at Unity of Ann Arbor is to create a spiritual consciousness through music.

In addition to Unity teachings, the use of music in the ministry of God’s people is considered an important element in worship and meditation. The music ministry team provides an important function to the overall life of the church through service music representing various styles from classical to contemporary repertoire. In addition, the church has a host of talented members who provide special music, as well as guest musicians from the local area.
